We Believe Stories Bring Light Into the World

Wayfarer Film Academy develops young filmmakers, actors, and storytellers who understand the power — and the responsibility — that comes with telling a story. We believe stories shape how people understand themselves, one another, and the world around them. That's not a small thing to hand a teenager, and we don't treat it like one.

At WFA, every creative choice matters. Through filmmaking, acting, writing, and production, students build real craft — while practicing the values that make meaningful creative work possible: truthfulness, consultation, service, justice, humility, unity in diversity, intentionality, and dignity in representation.

WFA continues a tradition of hands-on, ensemble-based filmmaking education in the Chicagoland area. Today, that work happens in close partnership with the Actors Training Center, whose community of working actors and teaching artists in Wilmette brings a performance-side rigor most filmmaking programs simply don't have access to.
